We are formerly the “Gulf Coast RV Club” which started back in 2004 with a group of 11 couples just wanting to go camping with some friends within the surrounding Houston area.
Our club ventured out within a 150 mile radius of Houston and had members as far as Lake Charles, LA. & Bastrop, TX. During the years our club grew to a membership of 54 families. At some point we had members wanting to get the club larger and some who thought it was already too large.
Well as we all know, when you get too many hands in the cookie jar you can start to have a few problems. Sorry to say, this is what happened in our situation. Too many members wanting to do too many different things and too many disagreements.
The original vision of the club was to organize a camping group who would go camping in a “Stress Free” environment after working all week long. While the club was small, this worked out fine but there were different visions from newer members as we grew larger and the original vision was now lost.
The NEW Vision:
The “Texas Free Spirit Camping Club” have a new vision of how we camp and what the word camping means to us.
The true “Webster” definition of the word “Camping” reads as follows;
Camping is an outdoor recreational activity. The participants, known as campers, get away from urban areas, their home region or civilization and enjoy nature while spending one or more nights, usually at a campsite. Camping may involve the use of a tent, a primitive structure, or no shelter at all.
Because we are not “Tent” campers and we all have some type of Recreational Vehicle, some may say we are NOT considered camping when we go out on a camping trip.
Although we may not sleep in tents or sleeping bags, we would like to say that we are campers and enjoy doing things like:
So now that you know what we like to do when we go camping, maybe you will fit into our group if you are a OUTDOOR person and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.
Life is too short to spend it being stressed out while camping. We do not have agendas, meetings, planned activities, wear badges or obligated to do anything. Camping is supposed to be relaxing and that is what we do. You get to do whatever you want to do and have the option of including the rest of the club if you wish.
Please click on the Application link from the menu if you think you fit into our group of campers. Membership is limited so apply now and we will let you know if your application was accepted.
NOTE:
By filling out an application does not automatically qualify you to become a member. We try hard to match you to our club based on what you look for in a camping club.
